Sissy’s bday dinner at Hutong - an elevated Chinese fine dining establishment with a stunning art decor space - specializing in contemporary dim sum and their special flaming roast duck. The whole roast duck will set you back $150 (probably the steepest I’ve seen in the city) but is flamed and carved table side, allowing you to enjoy some visual flare and aroma to whet your appetite. It’s served traditionally with steamed crepe wrappers, cucumber, scallion, and duck sauce, with the remainder stir fried for lettuce wraps at the end. It’s costly, but I agree probably in the top 3 ducks that I’ve had in the city - perfectly crispy, thick portions of actual meat, and a hint of smokiness from the flames. Their other shareables like the noodles and mapo tofu were good but quite simple. The dim sum items were definitely of higher caliber and technicality in all aspects from flavor to texture. Overall a great meal for a special occasion, but I would leave it at that. Reservations recommended, and I suggest going with a group to split the whole duck. #foodiehui — 📍Hutong • Wagyu Beef Mille-Feuille, Jade Heart, Crab & Prawn Salad, Dynasty Sour, Whole Flaming Duck, Kung Pao Iberico Pork, Mapo
